Ismail Amour joins Al-Muharraq

After an injury riddled season with Al-Yarmouk of the Jordanian Premier League, all signs pointed to Ismail Amour returning to the WBPL this off-season. Brilliant throughout 2012 with Palestine Amour seemed destined to make a move to a big club at the start of last season. It came as a bit of a surprise, that the 28 year-old Gazan decided to sign with relegation strugglers Al-Yarmouk who had only been saved from the drop by another Gazan's (Alaa Attieh) critical and clutch goal scoring during his four month loan spell.

As it turned out, Ismail Amour didn't play much during his stay with the club as a result of a recurring muscle injuries. Although he scored a trademark spectacular goal for the club in the penultimate game of the season, it was a case of too little, too late.

The financial details of the contract were not revealed by either party but we do know that Amour has signed on for only one season. This represents a low risk, high reward investment for Al-Muharraq who must surely have questions about Amour's ability to stay healthy for the entire season. For Amour, this move will give him his first taste of continental football (other than the AFC President's Cup) as Al-Muharraq have qualified for the AFC Cup by finishing the 2012/13 season as Bahraini League Runners-up.

In a coup for the national team, Ismail Amour has confirmed via Facebook that he received permission from his new club to play at the AFC Challenge Cup in March.
